Peace in the Time of Trouble
One thing I have learned in life is that when a trial comes your way there are 2 very different attitudes you can take. I myself have had those moments of "Why is it always me?" I would like to think that I am a positive person. Now however true or untrue that may be, I still LIKE to think it. ;) Tonight I was reminded again how much perspective can do for you.
Once again I was driving home from a great weekend in Tulare with that one guy and all the fabulous brethren there. I made it pass Sacramento and was in the home stretch of the last hour when my temp. gage shoots up and my check engine light pops on. I was going to wait for an exit but I could kinda smell smoke and thought maybe not. So pulling on the side of the I-5, open my hood and sure enough it's smoking. So I call Mom, AAA and Tyler, get cozy in my car and wait on a tow. I was waiting for a good 30 minutes before someone finally pulled over, an older hippie looking woman, and ask's if I need help. I tell her a tow is on it's way and she keeps going. I found this comical because I literally watched at least 15 men stare me down and not bother to pull over and ask if I was even okay or needed help. Sheesh, what's with people these days?
Anyway, a cop finally came and hung out with me until my tow got there another 15 minutes later. So the tow guy get's there and both the cop and tow guy go into trying to diagnose my car and explain to me whats going on. I know nothing about cars. NOTHING. So when he's try to explain to me about a box and some water and a gauge that all do something I just nod right a long smiling like I have a clue what in the world he was talking about. So after the full run down, he loads up my car, we hop in the truck and head out to go meet mom and dad just a ways down the road. He looks at me and tells me im extremely upbeat for someone that was just stranded on I-5 for an hour, I just smile and say that's life. He started telling me about how some people get in the truck and wont stop complaining about everything that's wrong with the car or even in life at the moment. It hit me then that not once had I really been upset about my car, I just took it for what it was and moved on.The truth is, complaining gets you nowhere! Sure sometimes it makes you feel better to just let it out and i'm all for those moments! But staying positive in those situations and just taking life for what it is, leaving it in Gods hands gives you a much better outcome!
Once we meet mom and dad we get everything sorted out easily and we are back on our way home. I just feel blessed to know that no matter where I am God takes care of me and gives me peace in the trials that come my way. <3
